Kuncharpathi, Palakkuzhi, Ponmudi and Chirattakunnu are the highest areas with low loamy soil, which is located at an altitude of 3500-4000 feet above sea level. Coffee, cardamom and pepper are cultivated here. The remaining area is covered by dense forests. The rivers Thippilikayam, Thalpuzha, Kanthapuzha, Odamthod and Manila flow down from this area. The Thindillam watercourse also originates from this area. Deforestation is the biggest challenge facing this area. The forest resources here need to be protected. Slopes The slopes, which cover 40 percent of the area, connect the high plains and the plains. The areas of Palakkuzhi, Ayyappanmala and Kuncharpathi are steeply sloping. The areas of Chattappara, Nagampara, Kakancheri, Pathinaram Block, Ambittantarish and Panthanaam Block are low-slope areas. The soil types here are loamy soil and rocky soil. Rubber, pepper, coconut, cashew, medicinal plants and banana are cultivated here. This area faces challenges such as soil erosion, deforestation and frequent landslides. Plains Following the sloping areas are the plains. 50 percent of the total area is plains. Plains are areas that receive rainwater. The soil types here are sandy soil, loamy soil and gravelly soil.
